RUSH, follows artist Ella Merriman as she harvests rush in Somerset’s slow-flowing rivers, working with the endangered craft of rush basketry.

Through Ella’s craft, rural and urban worlds meet, and each carefully designed piece becomes an organic love letter to nature, a reminder that when we are reunited with the land, we find belonging and remember practices we didn’t know we’d forgotten. As she weaves, picks, and knots in her London studio, Ella reflects on our culture of abundance and overconsumption, identifying that her endangered craft offers a way to return to our innate knowledge of weaving, making and mending – finding a sense of belonging within a forgotten material.
